Nurarihyon no Mago, or Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, is a manga series written and illustrated by Hiroshi Shiibashi. It started serialization in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 2008 and has collected into 21 volumes with more than 10 million copies sold. An anime adaptation by Studio DEEN is split into two seasons, premiering in Japan on July, 2010 and July, 2011. Despite its popularity among readers, the manga series has ended its serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump on June 25. The finale will run in Jump Next! to be issued in August.
The story centers around a boy named Rikuo Nura, who's part human and a quarter yokai (demon). He lives in a house full of spirits along with his yokai grandfather. Despite his grandfather's wish to succeed him as master of a yokai yakuza clan, he tries to escape his fate of acting like a yokai by doing good deeds. He eventually comes to terms with his demon blood and decides to take up the position of Young Head of the Nura house.
